Your back pain isn’t a back problem.

Your back pain isn’t a back problem.

I want to tell you about Tom.

49 years old. Construction project manager.

Chronic lower back pain for six years.

Two doctors. A chiropractor. Physical therapy.

Temporary relief every time.

Pain always came back.

When he came to One Life, we didn’t start by treating his back.

We looked at what was around it.

His glutes were barely firing.

His hip hinge pattern was almost nonexistent.

He was bending his back to pick things up instead of hinging at the hip.

And he’d been doing it for years without realizing it.

Here’s what most people don’t know.

Your glutes are supposed to be the powerhouse of your lower body.

Every time you stand up, walk, pick something up — your glutes should be doing the work.

But when you sit for 8-10 hours a day, your glutes essentially switch off.

Hip flexors shorten and tighten.

Glutes stop firing.

And your lower back — which was never meant to be the primary mover — steps in to compensate.

Do that thousands of times a day for years.

Your back is going to hurt.

The fix isn’t more rest.

It’s not more stretching.

It’s building stronger glutes and learning to move the way your body was designed to move.

We spent Tom’s first few weeks just teaching him the hip hinge.

Glute bridges. Romanian deadlifts with light weight. Single leg work.

Month two we started loading progressively.

Month three he told me his back hadn’t hurt in four weeks.

Not “it’s a little better.”

Four weeks completely pain free for the first time in six years.

“I wish someone had told me this earlier,” he said.

The back wasn’t the problem.

It was compensating for everything around it.

Fix the foundation — the pain goes away.

If this sounds like your situation — I’d love to help.
