Thanksgiving Is a Week Away: Don’t Let the All-or-Nothing Mindset With Your Workouts Win
Thanksgiving is just a week away, and with it comes the start of the holiday season—the time of year when so many of us feel tempted to say, “Eh, I’ll just get back on track in January.”
It’s easy to fall into that all-or-nothing mindset. You think, If I can’t stick to my full routine, why bother at all? But that’s exactly the mindset that keeps most people from ever truly getting healthy or being successful.
This time of year doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Something is always better than nothing.
A Smarter Holiday Approach
Let’s make this season different. You don’t need to be perfect, but you also CAN’T QUIT ENTIRELY. Here’s how you can stay consistent while still enjoying the holidays:
- Don’t Keep Desserts Hanging Around.
By all means, enjoy your Thanksgiving pie or Christmas cookies! But don’t let those treats linger in the house for days—or weeks—after the holiday. Keep them for a day or two, then throw them out. Out of sight, out of mind. Bring them to the gym and I’ll throw them out for you lol. - Make a Healthy Start Each Day.
If you’re planning to indulge later, start your day with a balanced breakfast. Think protein, healthy fats, and maybe some fruit. It sets the tone for the day and helps prevent overeating later on. Or just slam a Fairlife ready to drink protein shake. 30 grams of protein and tastes just like chocolate milk. - Something Is Always Better Than Nothing.
Can’t stick to your usual workout routine? That’s okay. One workout a week is better than zero. If you manage two or three workouts a week this time of year, you’re absolutely crushing it compared to most people.
But let’s be real—you’re not most people. You know the value of staying consistent.
- Avoid the All-or-Nothing Trap.
This is the big one. Don’t throw in the towel just because you’re not sticking to your “perfect” plan. Adjust your expectations, do what you can, and keep moving forward. Progress doesn’t stop just because life gets busy.
Why This Matters
The truth is, the people who achieve lasting health and fitness are the ones who don’t stop. They don’t take six weeks off every holiday season, only to start from scratch in January. They stay consistent in small ways, even during the busiest times of the year.
You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to keep showing up.
So enjoy Thanksgiving. Savor the good food, the time with family, and the joy of the season. Then, come back the next day ready to make good choices.
Remember:
- One workout is better than no workouts.
- Two or three workouts a week is a huge win during the holidays.
- Clearing out the holiday treats after a day or two keeps you on track.
- Starting each day with a healthy breakfast sets you up for success.
Adopt this approach, and you’ll find yourself in January not feeling like you’re “starting over” but ready to keep building on the progress you’ve already made.
Remember, I meet with a lot of people who continue to make excuses, fail to take action, or think they know better than me, please don’t make this mistake.
I want you to win. I want you to be successful. I want you to get strong and healthy and all those things.
This is how you do it. Let’s make this the year you don’t quit.
