“Should I still workout if I’m injured?”

“Should I still workout if I’m injured?”

the answer is yes 99% of the time! A few days ago, I had a great conversation with one of our members who had tweaked her knee while playing tennis. Initially, she wanted to cancel her session and take a few days off to rest, saying, “I just want to give it some time to heal up, and I don’t want to make it any worse.”

I completely understand the concern about not wanting to exacerbate an injury. If you were to consult with a general physician, you’d likely hear the same advice: “Just rest it for a few days.”

While it’s wise to avoid exercises that directly challenge an injured area, skipping workouts entirely means missing out on significant benefits. Even without lower body exercises, the hormonal boosts and increased blood flow from training other parts of your body can aid in recovery and keep you feeling fit.

Rely on the guidance and support of your coaches—they’re here to help you navigate these decisions and ensure you have a great, safe workout.

  • If your knee is bothering you, we can focus on upper body and core exercises.
  • If you’ve tweaked your shoulder, we can concentrate on the other arm, lower body, and conditioning.

Our job is to keep you safe while holding you accountable and showing you that you can still have an effective workout.

In full transparency I’m currently dealing with some low back stuff and disc issues so I’m focusing on upper body this week but still getting my workouts in to feel good and keep up the momentum.

So, the next time you’re considering skipping a session because of an injury, give us a call and talk to your coach. We’ll make sure you leave feeling better than when you walked in.
