Why I Don’t Like Eating Six Small Meals a Day
If you grew up in the 2000s, you probably heard it over and over: “Eat six small meals a day to stoke your metabolism.” Supposedly, constantly feeding yourself keeps your body burning fat like a furnace.
Here’s my take: eating six small meals a day made me hungrier, not fuller—and it might do the same for you.
Why Six Small Meals Left Me Hungry
When I tried eating tiny meals every 2-3 hours, I felt like I was always thinking about food, always planning the next snack, and always hungry. Instead of keeping cravings away, it felt like I was chasing my hunger all day.
Plus, six small meals meant smaller portions of protein, so I never felt truly satisfied. That left me more prone to reaching for extra snacks or carbs just to feel full.
Why I Prefer 3 Hearty, Protein-Packed Meals
Three solid meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—allow me to eat enough protein, get full, and stay satisfied for hours. I spend less time thinking about food and more time focusing on work, training, and family.
I also do a protein shake after my workouts and another at night when I’m watching tv.
The Bottom Line: Make Meals Work for You
Six small meals might work for some—but if you’re constantly hungry or obsessed with your next snack, it might be time to simplify.
