The TOP 3 THINGS I Did To Take Back My Health in 2019

The other night I had an awesome conversation with one of my amazing clients and we got into the question of Are you healthier today than you were on January 1st?

Before you read any further, take a minute, let it digest, and think. It’s really a loaded question and if the answer is no, why not? I’d love to help.

Okay, for me personally, I know I am. I just took an Inbody scan yesterday and my bodyfat has decreased 2.3% and I’ve gained about a pound of muscle (I know, only 1 pound but I’m happy with it!)

Last year, I couldn’t have said the same. I had twins in January of 2018 and with that came less exercise, less sleep, poor eating habits, you name it. On top of having twins, I was experiencing back pain regularly, pretty much daily. I was eating anything that anyone would bring us and I was legitimately sick at least once per month in 2018. The man flu as my wife calls it. I was sick 3x between Thanksgiving and New Years and that’s when I decided enough was enough. It was time to take my health back because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Life is just better when you feel good and you’re healthy & happy.

So what did I do?

I made my health a priority.

Seriously, that’s what I did. “But Tim, it’s not that fu*king easy I have (enter excuses here).” I get it, I really do, it is and it isn’t all at the same time. How about we try though, cool?

Here is a list of things I did to take back my health in 2019:

1I joined our Nutrition Challenge and participated in the same way as all of our clients. I did my best to shop and prep for the week on Sundays because “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”

2. I downloaded the “Sleep Cycle” app and used it every single night for the first 3 months of the year. It’s really cool and simple to use and analyzes your sleep quality as well as how much sleep you are getting. I gave myself strict orders to go into bed by 9:30/10 on the nights I wasn’t working late instead of just hanging out on the couch watching whatever BS tv was on.

3. I spent less time on my phone and social media. I did my best to leave my phone by my bed after 7pm and would only check it once right before bed, mainly to make sure my alarms were on. No checking emails, no responding to text messages, no Instagram, no Facebook, nothing. Every Sunday I also check my average screen time for the week to do my best to keep it under control and see where I’m wasting time. Each of us gets the same amount of attention to spend each day. It’s a competitive advantage to figure out how to focus it to get things done.

That’s what I did but back to my original question and you,
Are you healthier today than you were on January 1st?
Are you less stressed?
Less anxious?
More productive?
Happier?
Stronger?
Do you weigh less?
Do you have less body fat?
Are you more comfortable in your own skin?

If not, why not?
