This is the age-old question! How to lose weight? Type it into a Google search and let the fun begin!
You will get inundated with multiple workout routines that promise amazing results in as little time as possible.
Keep digging and everyone is an expert when it comes to dieting options with shake diets, weight loss pills, carb-only diets, fat-only diets, and protein-only diets. The list goes on and on.
Here is what we believe.
1. There are no quick fixes to weight loss.
Do some of our clients lose weight faster than others? Yes!
At One Life, We focus on many small and consistent changes over time.
For some clients, it took them 20, 30 & even 40 years to get where they are today so why is it realistic that such habits can be changed in the next 30 to 60 days?
2. Lack of nutritional knowledge when it comes to weight loss
The foods we eat, the amount we eat, and the time of day we eat are vital when it comes to weight loss.
At One Life we recognize that nutrition is the most important factor when it comes to body composition-related goals. Over 80% of our Personal Training clients do Nutrition Coaching because you can’t out-exercise a bad diet. Those that come to this realization and work with a nutrition coach have the most success.
We teach our clients to drink a lot of water and follow the plate method of 1/2 your plate veggies, 1/4 protein, and 1/4 starch and to eat real, whole foods. Foods such as lean meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts & seeds, some starch, and no sugar. We also hold you accountable. It’s not sexy but it works.
3. Exercise’s role in weight loss
Most people get bored with their exercise program. At One Life, we change things up daily and keep it fun!
We do some weightlifting to build lean muscle and get stronger. We perform bodyweight movements like situps, pushups, and pullups so we can move our own bodies well. We run, row, bike, and do other forms of cardio. And we mix everything up in as many combinations as possible to keep making progress.
So if you are still asking yourself how to lose weight, the answer is:
- A long-term mindset.
- Work with a nutrition coach and focus on eating a healthy diet.
- Switch up your workouts.
