The Squat: A Beginner’s Guide to the King of Exercises

The squat is a really important exercise that works many muscles in your body. People call it the “king of exercises” because it’s so effective. It mainly focuses on your legs, like your thigh muscles (quads), the back of your thighs (hamstrings), and your butt (glutes). But it also helps your core and upper body stay strong.

Here’s how you do a squat: Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart, make sure you’re comfortable. Then, bend your knees and lower your body down while keeping your back straight and your chest up. Go as far down as you comfortably can with your own full range of motion. Finally, push through your heels and stand back up.

Doing squats has a lot of benefits. They make your lower body muscles stronger and more powerful. Squats also improve your balance and how well you can move your body. They even help make your bones denser and stronger. And if you want to lose some fat, squats can help with that too. They burn a lot of calories because they work many different muscles at the same time.

At One Life, we do bodywight squats, front and back squats with a barbell, goblet squats, squats with dumbbells, and a bunch of other variations as well.

So, if you’re looking for an exercise that gives you a lot of bang for your buck, the squat is a great choice!
