👀I’m sure you’ve said these things before…

I had a conversation with a client yesterday that is one I’ve had many different times, with many different people.

It went a little something like this:

  • I have to fight with myself to get out of bed in the morning.
  • I don’t eat breakfast in the morning because I don’t have time.
  • I usually have a muffin or a doughnut and a extra large double-double coffee on each of my coffee breaks.
  • I have no energy by noon. And by 3PM, I want to nap.
  • I rush the kids to activities throughout the night, and I don’t have time to cook a healthy meal.
  • Grabbing McDonald’s is easier to satisfy the kids and make sure they’re fed. It’s easier for me to eat it too, since we are there anyways.
  • I get home and I have no energy to do anything else but sit on the couch.
  • I usually have a glass or two of wine at night, and will snack on chips or some other type of junk food.

Most people read a list like this and think, “Wow, they need to work on their nutrition!”

And while that is definitely true, fitness and nutrition are not the be-all-end-all answer. If it were, I’d be out of a job!

The problem with the above list of items is the lack of structure, time management, and discipline to map out your day more efficiently and productively.

When my clients tell me, “I don’t have time,” they are really saying, “I don’t know how to prioritize the time.”

Part of what we work on with our 9 Week Executive Coaching clients is time management, and working towards their Perfect Day. We get them to map out what the day needs to look like from start to finish in an ideal world, and then over the course of the 9 weeks, we build our structure through habits and routines to get us as close to that as possible.

Everything seems overwhelming when you’re stuck in a rut like that list above. But it’s because you just haven’t learned how to do it any other way. You might even know what it is that you need to do differently – most of us do, it’s not rocket science – but that’s the purpose of a Coach. To guide you through that process and help you stay accountable to continually working towards the goal posts.

As you contemplate what you want to achieve in 2024 ahead, sit back and ask yourself if your habits and routines support these things you want for yourself. That’s the thing we need to look point black at. And that’s the thing that most people need help with.

You can find fitness and nutrition information free on the internet anywhere. It’s not a magical formula that only a few people in this world know. It’s literally free, for anyone to find, yourself included. Other coaches might read this and say, “Woah! How can you say that!” And my answer is always because it’s not about the information, it’s about the action.

So if that were the answer, you’d be well on your way to the things you want to accomplish. But it’s not. And here we all are, spinning our tires in the mud, over and over again. How many times have we attempted to “start over” again? I know I’m guilty of this, a lot.

Get yourself a coach. Structure things better. Build the support system you need in place to attack those lofty goals ahead.

Let’s change how you look at things.
